MGM MIRAGE Executives Honored for Community Service

Two MGM MIRAGE executives were recently honored for their community service and dedication to promoting diversity in Southern Nevada.

The Las Vegas Urban Chamber of Commerce awarded Punam Mathur, MGM MIRAGE Senior Vice President of Corporate Diversity and Community Affairs, with the Community Enrichment Award in Civil Rights. The award was presented at the Chamber's Annual Ann Gregory Memorial Scholarship and Community Enrichment Awards Reception.

Mathur was recognized for her work in overseeing the MGM MIRAGE Diversity Initiative which seeks to build a culture of inclusion throughout the company and the community. Under her leadership, the company has received numerous accolades for its efforts in diversity and minority empowerment. This year, the company was recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the "Top 40" companies in the U.S. for diversity.

Additionally, Debra Nelson, Vice President of Corporate Diversity, Communications and Community Affairs, was honored for her contributions to diversity at the first ever Las Vegas Expo, a community event celebrating diversity.

Nelson is a founding board member of the newly formed Chief Diversity Officers Roundtable at Cornell University. In Nevada, she is the founder of the Diversity Professionals Network. Comprised of diversity officers, the group meets quarterly to network, share best practices, and to explore ways to enhance the reputation of the diversity profession.
