Punam Mathur Named as 'Woman of Distinction' for Gaming by the National Association of Women Business Owners of Southern Nevada

Punam Mathur, MGM MIRAGE Senior Vice President of Corporate Diversity and Community Affairs, has been named as one of Southern Nevada's "Women of Distinction" by the National Association of Women Business Owners of Southern Nevada (NAWBO).

Annually, NAWBO honors women for their contributions in the Southern Nevada business community. Mathur was selected for her achievements in the gaming industry. She was nominated for recognition by the Gaming Organization of Leadership Diversity (GOLD).

Mathur is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the MGM MIRAGE Diversity Initiative, as well as government affairs, community relations, corporate philanthropy and the employee-funded Voice Foundation.

Under her leadership, the company has received numerous accolades for its efforts in diversity and community affairs, including being named by Fortune Magazine as one of the "50 Best Companies for Minorities" in 2004. Recently, the company was recognized by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the "Top 30" companies in the U.S. for diversity. In 2005, MGM MIRAGE and the Voice Foundation were named "Outstanding Corporation/Foundation of the Year" by the Las Vegas Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Mathur currently serves on the boards of several organizations including the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council, United Way of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas After-School All-Stars, and the Clark County Regional Business Development Advisory Council, which she co-chairs. Additionally, she serves as Co-Chair of the American Gaming Association's Diversity Task Force.
