MGM MIRAGE Named Among Leading Companies for Gay and Transgender Employees by The Human Rights Campaign Foundation

September 21, 2005

MGM MIRAGE has been named among the leading companies in the U.S. for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a national advocacy organization. The recognition follows a comprehensive examination of the company's policies and practices related to GLBT audiences.

This is the first year that MGM MIRAGE has participated in HRC's Corporate Equality Index which rates Fortune 500 and other major companies on issues ranging from policies prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity to equal health care benefits. The company received an overall score of 86.

According to HRC President Joe Solmonese, leading companies understand that equal treatment of employees is a value of diversity. "Corporate America knows that treating employees fairly is not just the right thing to do, it's good for the bottom line. The enormous growth we've tracked in fair employee policies proves that corporate America is making good on the old adage: what's good for business is good for America."

"In today's global economy, our company is a microcosm of the world, where people from everywhere come to visit and to work. This recognition underscores the value of diversity to our operations," said MGM MIRAGE Chairman and CEO Terry Lanni.

In 2000, MGM MIRAGE became the first company in the gaming industry to launch a voluntary diversity initiative. It is also the first company in gaming to offer same-sex health benefits to employees. The company engages in marketing and advertising to the GLBT community and makes charitable contributions that support related community organizations.
