James J. Murren
, Chairman & CEO

Jim Murren was named Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International in December 2008. He leads a global entertainment company with national and international locations featuring best-in-class hotels and casinos, state-of-the-art meetings and conference spaces, incredible live and theatrical entertainment experiences, and an extensive array of restaurant, nightlife and retail offerings.

Mr. Murren joined MGM in 1998 after spending more than a decade on Wall Street, where he was regarded as a leading analyst in the hotel and gaming industries. His arrival at MGM coincided with a period of dramatic growth for the company, including the acquisitions of Mirage Resorts and Mandalay Resort Group.

Mr. Murren serves as chairman of MGM China Holdings Limited, which owns MGM Macau and is developing MGM COTAI. He also serves as chairman of MGM Growth Properties, a real estate investment trust.

He is the visionary behind CityCenter, the unprecedented urban resort destination that opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 2009 featuring centerpiece ARIA Resort & Casino. CityCenter – a sophisticated mix of resorts, residences, conference facilities, dining and retail -- is among the largest "green" developments globally. Using cutting-edge solutions, CityCenter demonstrates that sustainability enhances the guest experience.

A native of Fairfield, Conn., Mr. Murren graduated from, and is a trustee of, Trinity College, where he majored in Art History and Urban Studies. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institution and on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council. He is chair of the Leadership Board of the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine. He also is a member of the Board of Trustees for Howard University and a member of the Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs of leading U.S. companies. Mr. Murren served as the Chairman of the American Gaming Association from 2014 until 2017.

A leader in the area of corporate responsibility, he was named a Responsible CEO of the Year by CR Magazine. He is the recipient of the "Distinguished Leader Award" by the University of Massachusetts’ Isenberg School of Management and "Executive of the Year" honor by Casino Journal. Under his leadership, MGM Resorts International was named among FORTUNE® Magazine's World's Most Admired Companies® in 2016. Mr. Murren was also named to the Institutional Investor "2017 All-America Executive Team," ranking as a Best CEO for Sell-Side.

Mr. Murren and wife Heather Hay Murren received the 2017 Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship. The award is given to those who, by their example and business practices, have demonstrated a profound concern for the common good beyond the bottom line, acting as a force for positive change.

The Murrens are actively involved in assisting wounded warriors and their families through the creation of a Fisher House in southern Nevada.

Bill Hornbuckle
, President & Chief Operating Officer

A four-decade veteran of the gaming industry, Bill Hornbuckle currently serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Resorts International. He also serves as the Company’s Chief Design and Construction Officer charged with the global expansion efforts of the Company through gaming development and MGM Hospitality divisions. These responsibilities focus on the positioning of MGM Resorts International portfolio of properties and the company’s overall growth strategy.

Mr. Hornbuckle currently serves as an Executive Committee Member and a Board of Director of MGM China Holdings with operations and resorts in Macau. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of MGM Growth Properties (MGM Resorts’ REIT IPO) and the CityCenter JV Board of Directors (a joint venture with Dubai World). 

He was previously Chief Marketing Officer of MGM Resorts International form 2009 until 2012. From 2005 until August 2009, Mr. Hornbuckle served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. He previously had served as President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Resorts International-Europe, where he worked on the development of the Company’s gaming operations in the United Kingdom. He also served as President and Chief Operating Officer of MGM Grand Las Vegas from 1998 to 2001.

Prior to MGM Grand Las Vegas, Mr. Hornbuckle served as President and Chief Operating Officer for Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. He spent the majority of his career with Mirage Resorts in various senior management positions, including President and Chief Operating Officer of the Golden Nugget Laughlin, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Treasure Island and Vice President of Hotel Operations for The Mirage, opening the hotel in 1989.

Mr. Hornbuckle is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel Administration. He serves on the Board of Trustees for Three Square Food Bank. He is also a Founder of the Bank of George, a local banking institution. Previously, Mr. Hornbuckle served on the boards for the United Way of Southern Nevada, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Foundation, and the Andre Agassi Foundation. From 1999 to 2003, he also served as a Board Member of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. 

Corey Sanders
, Chief Financial Officer

Corey Sanders has served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for MGM Resorts International since March 2019. He provides strategic leadership and financial vision for the Company to include oversight of both corporate and property finance units, capital improvement projects, and new development initiatives. In addition, Corey is responsible for all aspects of corporate finance, including financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, investor relations, merger and acquisitions, and capital markets transactions.

Mr. Sanders previously served as Chief Operating Officer of MGM Resorts International. In this capacity, he oversaw the Company’s wholly owned properties which include Bellagio, MGM Grand Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, New York-New York, Park MGM (formally Monte Carlo), Luxor, Excalibur, Circus Circus Las Vegas, MGM Grand Detroit, Beau Rivage, Gold Strike Tunica, Borgata, MGM National Harbor, and MGM Springfield as well as multiple Corporate departments. Prior to that he served as Chief Operating Officer for the Company’s Core Brands and Regional properties where he worked with the Chairman and CEO as well as the Property Presidents on a variety of initiatives aimed at growth opportunities and improving operating efficiencies for the Company.

In his tenure with the Company, Mr. Sanders has also served as Executive Vice President of Operations for MGM MIRAGE, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for MGM Grand Resorts, Executive Vice President and CFO for MGM Grand, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Finance, and Tax Director for MGM Grand.

Mr. Sanders received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from UCLA.

Atif Rafiq
, President of Commercial & Growth

Atif Rafiq is President of Commercial & Growth at MGM Resorts International. In this role, Atif leads companywide strategy and transformation to evolve guest experience and drive growth of the business.

As the lead commercial officer, Atif manages all revenue streams and their drivers, including brand positioning, customer strategy, guest offerings, end-to-end experience and business models. He oversees several functions including Marketing, Brand, Revenue Management, Analytics, Digital, Engineering, IT and Data Science.

Previously, Atif formulated and drove one of the largest digital transformations in the world at McDonald’s as Senior Vice President and Global Chief Digital Officer. Atif joined MGM Resorts in May 2019 from Volvo Cars, where he led strategic initiatives to embrace business model change through digital subscriptions, developed direct-to-consumer relationships, introduced a wave of connectivity services for cars and created partnerships with tech giants as Chief Digital Officer and Global CIO. He possesses significant experience with culture change, organizing a company around customers, recruitment of new tech-savvy talent, and business model evolution.

Atif has been at the center of Internet and digital disruption for over 20 years, building on 15 years of experience in pure play tech companies such as Amazon, Yahoo! and AOL where he led large scale, fast growing digital businesses. Atif has also been the Founder / CEO of a Silicon Valley start-up, Covigna, which he led from inception to exit.

He began his career at Goldman Sachs as a financial analyst, supporting companies such as Borders, Kmart, PetSmart, Lockheed Martin and other corporations on M&A and fundraising.

Atif holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics-Economics from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.

John M. McManus
, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary

John M. McManus is Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for MGM Resorts International. In this role, he is responsible for oversight of the Company’s legal affairs as well as the government affairs, corporate communications, corporate security, risk management and compliance departments. Mr. McManus works closely with members of senior management and the Company’s Board of Directors. He joined MGM in 2001 and has served as counsel in various capacities at the parent company and its operating subsidiaries during his tenure.

Before joining the Company, Mr. McManus held the position of Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for the Sahara Hotel & Casino and worked as an associate attorney with the Las Vegas law firm of Schreck, Jones, Bernhard, Woloson & Godfrey.

Lilian Tomovich
, Chief Experience & Marketing Officer

Lili is the Chief Experience & Marketing Officer at MGM Resorts International. In her role, Lili is responsible for all marketing & guest experience functions including portfolio brand management, guest strategy & insights, media, advertising & content, digital innovation, loyalty, partnerships, e-commerce, social and public relations.

Prior to joining MGM Resorts, Lili worked in New York, where she was Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing for MasterCard. Her role included directing the award-winning Priceless campaign. Prior to this, Lili was head of marketing for MasterCard in Canada where she left her mark by securing a spot on Ipsos Reid’s Top 10 Most Influential Brands in Canada.

In her early career, Lili held senior marketing positions with Loyalty One, the world’s leading provider of loyalty marketing programs to global corporations. Before joining Loyalty One, Lili honed her marketing skills with roles at Rogers, Canada’s largest mobile carrier, and Citi Canada.

Lili is a current member of the Board of Directors for Dine Brands Global (IHOP & Applebees) and a past board member of Basketball Canada and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Lili was most recently named to Brand Innovators’ list of Top 100 Women in Brand Marketing, recognizing the most innovative and influential women in brand marketing today. Other recent recognitions include Brock University Distinguished Alumni Award, Vegas Inc. Magazine “Women to Watch” list, Internationalist of the year, and recognition for marketing change by the SXSW Interactive festival. Lili earned an MBA from Wayne State University in Michigan.

Laura Lee
, Senior vice President of Human Resources

Laura Lee is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for MGM Resorts International. In this role, she oversees recruitment, hiring, compensation, training, employee engagement and cultural development for the Company.

Previously, Ms. Lee was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Regional Operations, leading all human resource and cultural integration at the Company’s regional properties across the U.S.

She is proud to work for a company that is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce and tries to ensure that her efforts reflect these values. In addition to being named one of America’s Best Large Employers by Forbes, MGM Resorts has received numerous awards for its dedication to diversity and inclusion in 2019 alone. 

She began her career with MGM Resorts in 1989, serving on The Mirage’s opening team as a VIP Services Representative. After completing the Management Associate Program in 1993, she joined the pre-opening team for Treasure Island as Employee Services Manager. She returned to The Mirage in 1997 as Employee Relations Manager and was subsequently promoted to Director of Human Resources in 2004.

During her extensive career with the Company, Ms. Lee has also served as Director of Human Resources at Circus Circus Las Vegas, Vice President of Human Resources at The Mirage, Vice President of Human Resources at Bellagio and Vice President of Human Resources at Mandalay Bay.

She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Personnel Management from Arizona State University. In addition to being a proud MGM Resorts Diversity Champion and a graduate of the Company’s Executive Leadership program, Ms. Lee is also a graduate of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Leadership Las Vegas program.
